15 School Districts Selected to Participate in NCS3 Learning Collaborative

The National Center for Safe Supportive Schools (NCS3), a Category II Center of National Child Traumatic Stress Network, launched its first learning collaborative to promote safe supportive schools. Fifteen school districts successfully competed to participate in the collaborative:


Casa Grande Elementary School District, Arizona

Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, California

Red Clay Consolidated School District, Delaware

City Schools of Decatur, Georgia

Bloom Township District 206, Illinois

Queen Anne's County Public Schools, Maryland

Medford Public Schools, Massachusetts

Minneapolis Public Schools, Minnesota

Robbinsdale Area Schools, Minnesota

Manchester School District, New Hampshire

Rancocas Valley Regional High School District, New Jersey

Lansingburgh Central School District, New York

Granville County Public Schools, North Carolina

Grand Forks Public Schools, North Dakota

Easton Area School District, Pennsylvania


The goal of the learning collaborative is to improve the integration of trauma-informed schools (TIS) and Cultural Responsiveness, Anti-Racism & Equity (CARE) efforts into comprehensive school mental health systems through their partnership with NCS3.This two-year learning collaborative intentionally integrates these essential components to better promote equity and well-being for all students and staff.

Participating districts and schools will receive:

  • Monthly virtual learning sessions for district teams

  • Quarterly training and facilitated discussion for school staff

  • Ongoing technical assistance and training from national experts

  • Participation in a national community of school districts engaged in continuous quality improvement


Dr. Sharon Hoover, NCS3 Principal Investigator and Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, noted that “the NCS3 is eager to work with these districts to support the implementation of equitable, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed school mental health. Students and staff need support for their well-being now more than ever. By applying to participate in the S3 Learning Collaborative, these 15 districts have demonstrated a commitment to promoting safe supportive schools in their communities.”
